Christensen Arms’ new lightweight Ridgeline Scout rifle with 16″ barrel

A short, ultralight 10-shot hunting rifle for shooters with a fat wallet

Christensen Arms Ridgeline Scout rifle

The new Ridgeline Scout rifle from Christensen Arms, which features a short 16-inch, carbon-fibre wrapped barrel and a carbon-fibre composite stock, is coming to Australia.

The handy little rifle weighs less than 2.7kg bare yet promises to deliver hot-barrel accuracy comparable to a heavy-barrelled rifle thanks to the carbon-fibre wrap on the barrel.

The Scout is based on the existing Ridgeline model but has had the barrel shortened from the parent rifle’s 24 inches, and a 10-round box magazine added to the specification.

Like the larger Ridgeline, Scout has a fluted bolt body to reduce mass, while additional weight-saving measures include a skeletonised bolt handle.

The Scout comes with a flash hider fitted to the threaded muzzle, a rail for scope mounting and another rail under the fore-end for accessories.

The Trigger Tech trigger comes set with a pull weight of approximately 1.4kg (3lb) and is adjustable.

The Ridgeline Scout is a typical scout-type rifle with short barrel and 10-round magazine

The ultralight sporter stock includes a pillar bedding system to enhance accuracy, and allows the barrel to free-float.

It is finished in a tan colour with black web highlights.

The Scout will be available in four calibres: .223 (1:8” twist), 6.5CM (1:8”), .300 Blackout (1:7”) and .308 (1:10”).

Christensen Arms has given the Scout a sub-MOA accuracy guarantee.

This high-end rifle won’t be cheap, though, with prices expected to be around the $5000 mark.

For all its weight-reducing construction and short barrel, the Scout is not Christensen’s lightest firearm.

Extensive use of carbon-fibre ensures the Christensen Arms Ridgeline Scout is an extremely light rifle

A number of titanium-actioned models, including a Ridgeline version with 24” barrel, cut mass even further.
